What I’ve Been Up To Lately

I’m going to try to get my head back into this blogging thing. I hope I don’t say that and then let it lie dormant for a few months. The semester kept me from feeling like I had time for it, but I always believe that people make time for what’s important to them. So it’s a matter of choosing it to be important. I enjoy it, even if sometimes it takes a chunk of my time to think of how I want to say something. It helps keep me focused on what’s happening here and now.

It’s really nice to have a brief break from school and work. I’ve gotten a chance to catch up on things I’ve been pushing back, like searching for internships and fundraising for Spring Break. I finished the last third of a book today that I started reading at the beginning of the semester. Crazy Love. It was a challenging book, even after picking it up after a couple months of not reading. I was also able to have my computer free of school work so that I could install Windows 7, which was a very smooth process and I am quite satisfied.

This semester, the main thing I worked on was a short film called The Nuclear Standard. I was a sound designer on the post-production portion of the film. I had a great time working with it and working with my group. I spent many long nights in Oldfather Studios but I learned a lot. I’m really interested in pursuing audio design further. I’m taking a class on it next semester. I also took a classes on Production Management, Documentary film, and the history of Christianity, which I am really glad I took.

I’ve been helping to launch a church in Lawrence called Eastlake. It’s really exciting as we’re about to launch weekly services in January (it’s been monthly thus far).

I’m excited to see my MKC friends in a few days. I’ll be in Paola on Tuesday for about 3 weeks, and I’ll be pulling some shifts at Pizza Hut to keep the cash flowing.

Now…to read Dan Brown, or to watch The Sarah Connor Chronicles with my lovely Summer Glau?
