This is the default blog look. I’ll be posting the new look for all the pages. I’m trying to do this slow and perfect so we will have an attractive site. Please feel free to comment about what you would like to see change, what you love about the new design, or anything else that might aid in the creation of the new design.

As I said before in an earlier post, I hate changing the site so frequently but with the new admin bar design possibilities have increased and functionality is better than ever.

And I totally understand that. So to make this happen I’m going to start to develop a navigation bar at the top of our page to keep a consistency between sites. Similar to the one shown above in your admin section. This will give tons of freedom.

I hate changing everything again but this will be for the better. And I really want this site to be the best and right now it’s far behind. I’ve been learning a lot about wordpress and I’ll be adding tons more plugins soon.

The site won’t change for quite some time though, I’ll try to have everything tested and ready to go all at once.

It’s still in progress as of right now. There are still some design elements and functionality that need to be fixed. So if you run into any errors or design problems don’t be worried, they will be fixed in the alpha release.

Basic posting and minor editing to your profile can be done right now.

The end of the semester has taken away much of my free time, and, thus, I’ve had barely anytime to add the features needed. For your knowledge updates that I will be working on over the summer will be:

  • Universal Friend List (This list will be active after you login and will follow you as you navigate from blog to blog).
  • Updated MKC Blogs (I’ve been working on this for quite some time, I’m trying to make it a widget. This will be similar to the original MKC updated blogs sidebar).
  • New Themes (After figuring out all the updates for the site I’ll be adding new themes for the site).
  • Video Page (Right now the videos page forwards to Google Video, I am planning a script that will use .flv or flash videos with an optional .zip download of the video.).
  • Facebook Picture Import (I’m preparing a widget that will import all your Facebook photos onto the MKC site).
  • Photos Page (For MKC photos).
  • The Discussion Board (I’m almost finished with this, it will be an online discussion board for MKC members, you’ll use the same password login as your current Blog).

So there you have it, there will be many more features and add-ons coming your way.

MKC Blogs has just upgraded the Presentation Section of the site to allow for widgets. Widgets are cool features that are displayed in the right sidebar of your blog.

What type of widgets are there?

    1. Author Profile - Displays your profile picture and about me description
    2. Archives - Browse through your old blogs
    3. Calendar - When was your last post? See your posting patterns in calendar format!
    4. Categories - Organize yourself. Setup categories for your blog entries (Manage > Categories) and allow users to find your posts faster.
    5. Pages - Create new pages within your blog site and allow visitors to browse through them. You can add new pages via the Manage > Pages tab.
    6. Recent Comments - Check out who commented on your blog last.
    7. Recent Posts - Keep Updated. Find out who posted last on the MKC Blog Network.
    8. Search - Find your posts the fast way!
    9. And much much more!

      Check it out:

      Login to your blogs. Go to Presentation > Sidebar Widget > and then start adding things! Check the presentation tab often to see new features.

Alternatives for importing MKCproductions old content are being researched. If you would like to see your old MKCproductions content please do the following:

      1. Open up an older version of Internet Explorer
      2. Enter http://www.mkcproductions.com/newsite/admin/rss.php?category=NUMBER&number=200 into the URL field; replacing NUMBER to your mkcproductions account’s user ID (Grant: 5, Mari: 7, Jason: 6, Paul: 10)
      3. Navigate to that URL inside your browser
      4. In internet explorer go to File > Save As > rss.php
      5. Go to http://blogs.mkcproductions.com/wp-login.php and enter your MKC Blogs username and password
      6. Go to the Manage tab then Import
      7. Then choose to upload through RSS
      8. Upload the rss.php file
      9. This will import some of the content (title, date, and some of the data)
      10. You will then have to go back to your blog http://www.mkcproductions.com/newsite and enter all the content manually
